Work carried out this week was:-

Scaffold continuing and external access stairs fitted.

Hoarding continuing and lighting being fitted to the covered walkway under the scaffold.

Further demolition of the water tank and further pipework alterations.

Satellite dishes moved to be on the outside of the scaffold.

Work for next week is:-

Until now the building work has been restricted because of the lack of temporary power and by trying to maintain the current Lift. After several meetings and discussions this week and last week it has been decided on health and safety and other grounds for the Lift to be taken out of action as from this coming Monday, 22 November 2021. UK Power Networks have refused to do temporary work to the main electrical supply into the building until after Christmas and most of the electrical fittings are the original from 1962 and need to be changed. We have tried to maintain the Lift for as long as possible but the Lift equipment is old and there is a danger of the Lift breaking down and trapping somebody inside. It is also dangerous for the men to be working close to and around the Lift motor room. The new Lift supplier has been agreed and we will do all we can to get the new Lift in and running as quickly as possible. This is not a decision taken lightly because despite the general inconvenience of having the development we are trying to not add to that inconvenience. Mayer have offered to asisst occupiers by carrying heavy goods etc to the higher floors if occupiers are struggling.

Because the Lift is being taken out of action from Monday that allows much more progress on ‘actual building work’ for next week.

Lift motor room and water tank room will be demolished. Also the front concrete parapet upstands will be demolished. This will be noisy work and there will be further noisy work on the run in to Christmas but we are trying to get most of the noisy work out of the way in a short intense period. We will load up a revised programme showing the coming noisy work.

Hoarding work will continue.
